Alexander Eggermont, MD is the Director-General of the Institut Gustave Roussy. Prior to holding this position, he served as Professor of Oncological Surgery at Erasmus University in Rotterdam (Netherlands), and headed the Department of Oncological Surgery of the University Center. He specializes in research in immunotherapy and the treatment of melanoma and sarcoma, as well as in basic research in pathophysiology and immunology of tumors. Dr. Eggermont currently chairs the European Academy of Cancer Sciences.
