RICHARD TANEY, JD – Chief
Executive Officer, President and Director
Mr. Taney has been a Director since November
2006, was appointed Chief Executive Officer
in December 2006 and named President in April
2007. He is the founding member of T2 Capital
Management, LLC, an investment management company.
Prior to establishing his money management venture,
he spent 20 years advising and managing assets
for high net worth and institutional clients,
most recently as Managing Director of Banc of
America Securities. Mr. Taney is also a founding
partner of Sandpiper Capital Partners, an investment
partnership that focuses on private equity investments
and advisory work for privately held companies
involved in a variety of emerging technologies.
He earned his B.A. from Tufts University and
his J.D. from Temple University School of Law.
PAUL M. FEINSTEIN, ESQ – Chief
Financial Officer
Mr. Feinstein has been the Chief Financial Officer
since October 2003. He was named Treasurer in
April 2007. From 1991 to 2002, he was Vice President
of Finance for the New York Road Runners in
New York City. From 1988 to 1990, he was the
Controller of Mechanical Plastics, Inc. Prior
to that he held senior financial positions with
Holmes Protection Services, Jewelers Protection
Services and Parade Publications and was with
Coopers & Lybrand, the international accounting
services firm that is now part of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
He is licensed to practice law in New York State.
He holds a B.B.A. from Pace College, an LL.M.
in Taxation from New York University School
of Law and graduated from Albany Law School
of Union University.
MARK MORRISON, M.D., PH.D. -- Chief
Medical Officer
Board Certified in Medical Oncology and Internal
Medicine, Dr. Morrison brings broad experience
in clinical research of both drugs and devices.
Dr. Morrison earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from
the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York
City, where his thesis explored the potential
targeted therapy of melanoma. Following his
internship and residency at Beth Israel Medical
Center and Fellowship in Medical Oncology at
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC),
Dr. Morrison remained as an instructor in the
Clinical Immunology Service, Melanoma Group
at MSKCC. Dr. Morrison began his career in the
pharmaceutical industry with American Cyanamid,
where he served as Clinical Team Leader, with
a primary focus on the development of therapies
with monoclonal antibody conjugates. He subsequently
spent twelve years at Pfizer, beginning in New
Product Development, where his role encompassed
both clinical trial conduct and market analysis,
leading to the development of comprehensive
product life cycle plans for Pfizer's Oncology
pipeline. Dr. Morrison then moved to the Medical
Affairs division where he led the post-marketing
clinical development of the chemotherapy Camptosar(TM)
(irinotecan). Most recently at Pfizer, Dr. Morrison
created and headed a team focused specifically
on optimizing the clinical development of new
drug and device products. Dr. Morrison's career
also has included the position of Senior Director,
Medical Affairs and Oncology Medical Section
Director, overseeing strategic planning and
the conduct of Oncology clinical trials to lead
to regulatory approvals at i3 Research, a global
Clinical Research Organization.
MR. JOHN TALARICO - Senior Vice President
Regulatory Affairs And Quality Systems
Mr. Talarico recently held a similar title at
Excelsior Medical and ProRhythm, Inc., manufacturers
of Class II and III combination products involving
a drug and device. He has held senior engineering,
quality and regulatory roles at a series of
medical device companies, during which time
he was responsible for PMA, IDE and 510(k) submissions.
Besides numerous FDA approvals, Mr. Talarico
has also been successful in gaining international
device approvals including the European CE Mark.
He has managed worldwide clinical trials for
numerous products and directed the QA, regulatory
and compliance activities through approval and
commercialization.
JONATHAN A. FOLTZ, CFA –
Executive Vice President
Mr. Foltz has been Executive Vice President
since June 2007. He had been working with Delcath
in an advisory role for periods between 2001
and 2007. Mr. Foltz is a founder and Director
of Os Technology, a women’s health medical
device company. From 1992 to 2001, he was Director
of Operations at Delcath and served as Acting
Chief Operating Officer from 1999 to 2001 and
Acting Chief Financial Officer from 1998 to
2000. Prior to 1992, Mr. Foltz held supervisory
and analytical positions at Venkol Ventures,
a healthcare-focused venture capital fund, Nicholas
Lawrence & Co., a regional stock brokerage,
Value Line, Inc. and Walter Heller & Co.
A Chartered Financial Analyst, Mr. Foltz received
a B.S. in Finance and Computer Science from
Lehigh University and an MBA from the University
of Connecticut.
JASON A. RIFKIN, ESQ –
Vice President Business Development
Mr. Rifkin has been Vice President of Business
Development since June 2007. Prior to joining
Delcath, Jason practiced law at Fox Rothschild
LLP, where he was an Associate in the Corporate
Department - Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology
Group. There, Mr. Rifkin worked extensively
on intellectual property matters, including
domestic and international patent applications,
and regulatory and licensing issues. Prior to
that, Mr. Rifkin practiced at a boutique litigation
firm in New York City, where he served as trial
and appellate counsel in a wide array of cases
in both federal and state courts. Mr. Rifkin
holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania,
a J.D. from Northeastern University School of
Law and an M.B. in Biotechnology from the University
of Pennsylvania, School of Engineering and Applied
Sciences.
HAROLD S. KOPLEWICZ, MD –
Chairman of the Board
Dr. Koplewicz has been a Director since September
2006 and was appointed Chairman in February
2007. Dr. Koplewicz is the Executive Director
of the Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric
Research. He is only the third person to hold
this title since 1952. Dr. Koplewicz is also
the Arnold and Debbie Simon Professor and Chairman
of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
and Professor of Pediatrics and founder of the
NYU Child Study Center at the New York University
School of Medicine. He has served as a member
of the National Board of Medical Examiners and
as a commissioner of the New York State Commission
on Youth, Crime and Violence and Reform of the
Juvenile Justice System.
ROBERT B. LADD, CFA –
Director
Mr. Ladd has been a director since October 2006.
Since January 2003, Mr. Ladd has served as the
founder and managing member of Laddcap Value
Advisors LLC, the general partner of Laddcap
Value Partners LP. From 1998 to November 2002,
Mr. Ladd served as a Managing Director for Neuberger
Berman; there he served as a portfolio manager
for various high net worth clients and as a
securities analyst. Mr. Ladd graduated from
the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton
School with a B.S. in Economics in 1980. He
received his M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s
Kellogg School of Management in 1983. Mr. Ladd
has also earned a CFA designation.
JONATHAN J. LEWIS, MD, PhD
– Director
Dr. Lewis has been a Director since June 2007.
Dr. Lewis is Chief Executive Officer of ZIOPHARM
Oncology, Inc. He has held leadership positions
at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center,
Yale-New Haven Hospital, Yale University School
of Medicine and Cornell University Medical School.
He was Chief Medical Officer of Antigenics,
Inc. from 2000 to 2003. Dr. Lewis earned his
MB.B.Ch. from Witwatersrand University School
of Medicine (Johannesburg, South Africa) and
his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Witwatersrand
and Yale University School of Medicine. Dr.
Lewis conducted his Surgical Residency at Johannesburg
General Hospital, Witwatersrand University School
of Medicine and at Yale-New Haven Hospital,
Yale University School of Medicine. He is a
Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons
and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Lewis
was a Research Fellow in the Department of Surgery
and Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at
Yale University School of Medicine, and was
a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Immunology
and Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer
Center.
LAURA A. PHILIPS, PhD, MBA
– Director
Dr. Philips has been a Director since May 2007.
Dr. Philips currently serves as Chair of the
Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood of
New York City, and serves on the Board of Directors
of Boyce Thompson Institute. From 2003 to 2006,
she was Chief Operating Officer and Acting Chief
Financial Officer of NexGenix Pharmaceuticals.
Prior to that, she was Vice President, Program
Management for the AMDeC Foundation. Dr. Philips
worked at Corning Incorporated from 1997 to
2002, where she held several positions including
Program Director of the Fuel Cells Division.
From 1994 to 1996, Dr. Philips held various
government positions in Washington, D.C., most
recently in a Presidential appointment as Senior
Policy Advisor to Secretary of Commerce Ronald
Brown. Dr. Philips was on the faculty of Cornell
University in the Department of Chemistry from
1987 to 1994 and was an NIH Post-Doctoral Fellow
at the University of Chicago. She received a
B.A. in Chemistry from Williams College, a Ph.D.
in Physical Chemistry from the University of
California Berkeley and an MBA with Distinction
from Cornell University's Johnson School of
Management.
